Whispers in the Night

In the quiet of the evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, a woman named Cassandra sat alone in her apartment. She had recently cut her hair into a pixie style, the short locks framing her delicate features and highlighting her bright green eyes. Cassandra was a woman of confidence and independence, but she couldn’t help but feel a sense of longing for companionship.

As she sat on her couch, she heard a soft knock at the door. She opened it to find a man named James, a neighbor from down the hall. He was tall and athletic, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Cassandra had always found him attractive, but they had never spoken more than a passing hello in the hallway.

“Hey,” James said, his voice low and gentle. “I saw your light on and I was wondering if you wanted to come over and watch a movie with me. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long night and I don’t want to be alone.”
